While you might have ideas in mind about upping sticks and moving on, now really isn’t the best time to think about putting a property on the market. At least wait until Brexit has happened so you can see what impact it has!

In the meantime, why don’t you try to add some serious value to your house so that when the time is right to sell you know you’re going to get the best price possible for your property.

The good folk over at home improvement service marketplace Plentific have just published new research revealing which projects will be most popular over the next 12 months, which could be just the inspiration you’ve been looking for!

Apparently, 19 per cent of people questioned said they’d be doing some interior design and spending more in this area than in 2017. After this, investment in bedrooms and gardens will be popular in 2018, followed by doing up the living rooms, then kitchens and bathrooms.

Spokesman for the company Stephen Jury commented: “It’s no surprise that people want to improve their homes – it’s one of the most sought-after perks of owning, after all! Still, with the market the way it is, homeowners need to think seriously about their reasons for investing in different parts of their property. Will the £1,000 you spend on your bedroom add as much to your home’s value as it would it you invested it in the kitchen?”

Those of you working to a tight budget but who still want to make a visible impact at home might want to hang new doors, buy rugs or runners or change up the lighting so the house feels different but without breaking the bank.
